Combined Cycle Power Plant Operation

Overview:

Introduction:

When compared to simple cycle gas turbine plants, steam power plants, or diesel power plants, combined cycle power plants have higher thermal efficiency, a lower levelised cost of electricity (LCOE), and a lower environmental effect because thermal efficiency can exceed 60%. The foundations and advantages of combined cycle power plants are highlighted and contrasted with other power generation technologies. These power plants may use a variety of fossil fuels and have an excellent baseload characteristic when combined with solar or nuclear energy.

Course Objectives:

At the end of this course the participants will be able to:

  • Design and evaluate combined cycle power plant thermodynamic cycles.
  • Select the most appropriate strategies for evaluating performance.
  • Choose the right size and design for your combined cycle power plant.
  • Examine the economics and the LCOE.
  • Analyze the Environmental Effects
  • Learn how to operate and maintain your equipment properly.
