

HABC Level 1 International Award in Fire Safety
Overview:
Introduction
The purpose of this training is to provide participants with the skills, knowledge and experience that will enable them to identify conditions capable of causing a fire, know how to use a fire extinguisher, respond appropriately to fire emergencies and follow a fire evacuation plan.
Course Objectives
At the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Understand basic fire safety in workplace.
- Understand the principles of prevention and control of fire in the workplace.
- Understand actions to be taken in the event of a fire.

- Roles and responsibilities
- Fire spread
Unit 2:
- Reducing the chances of fire
- Sources of fuel & heat/ignition
- Reducing the chances of fire
- Fire safety checks
Unit 3:
- Actions in case of fire
- Contacting the emergency services
- Extinguishers and their use
Unit 4:
- vacate the place.
- Application of the fire triangle theory in preventing fires at work sites.
- Perform a simple fire risk assessment in the building.
Unit 5:
- Understand and use the principles of fire suppression.
- Understand the meaning of flash point and auto ignition.
- Understanding the behavior of fire as it spreads.
