Overview

Introduction:

Advanced macroeconomic modeling provides central banks, governments, and policy institutions with structured analytical frameworks for understanding economic dynamics, evaluating policy alternatives, and forecasting macroeconomic outcomes. Dynamic Stochastic General Equilibrium (DSGE) models integrate microeconomic foundations, macroeconomic theory, stochastic processes, and policy transmission mechanisms to analyze the interactions among households, firms, financial markets, and government sectors. This training program explores DSGE modeling frameworks, macroeconomic forecasting methodologies, monetary and fiscal policy analysis, model calibration techniques, and policy evaluation approaches used in modern macroeconomic analysis. It provides an institutional perspective on how DSGE models support evidence based policymaking, macroeconomic forecasting, and strategic economic assessment.

Program Objectives:

By the end of this program, participants will be able to:

  • Analyze Dynamic Stochastic General Equilibrium (DSGE) frameworks and their role in modern macroeconomic analysis.

  • Evaluate macroeconomic modeling methodologies used for forecasting and policy assessment.

  • Assess monetary policy, fiscal policy, and external sector dynamics within DSGE modeling frameworks.

  • Examine model calibration, estimation, validation, and scenario analysis methodologies.

  • Explore the role of DSGE models in macroeconomic policy formulation, forecasting, and institutional decision making.

Target Audience:

  • Central Bank Economists.

  • Macroeconomic Analysts.

  • Monetary and Fiscal Policy Specialists.
