Overview

Introduction:

This training program covers the entire lifecycle of pipeline infrastructure, from design and construction to inspection and maintenance. Through it, participants will gain knowledge of industry standards, modern construction techniques, and strategies for ensuring pipeline integrity and reliability. It emphasizes safety, quality, and regulatory compliance throughout each phase of pipeline management.

Program Objectives:

By the end of this program, participants will be able to:

  • Explore the fundamentals of pipeline design and construction.

  • Implement best practices for pipeline inspection and integrity management.

  • Identify and mitigate risks in pipeline infrastructure.

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.

  • Develop maintenance strategies to enhance pipeline longevity.

Target Audience:

  • Pipeline Engineers and Designers.

  • Construction and Project Managers.

  • Maintenance and Reliability Professionals.

  • Quality Control and Assurance Personnel.

  • Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Officers.

Program Outline:

Unit 1:

Introduction to Pipeline Infrastructure:

  • Overview of pipeline systems and their applications.

  • Types of pipelines (oil, gas, water, and industrial).

  • Materials used in pipeline construction.

  • Key industry standards and regulations (API, ASME, ISO).

  • Environmental and safety considerations in pipeline projects.

Unit 2:

Pipeline Design Principles:

  • How to design parameters and considerations (pressure, temperature, and flow rate).

  • Pipeline route selection and feasibility studies.

  • Stress analysis and material selection.

  • Corrosion protection strategies in design.

  • Hydraulic calculations and flow assurance.

Unit 3:

Pipeline Construction Methods:

  • Onshore and offshore pipeline construction techniques.

  • Welding methods and quality control in construction.

  • Pipeline trenching, laying, and backfilling.

  • Special construction considerations (crossings, bends, and slopes).

  • Safety protocols during construction activities.

Unit 4:

Pipeline Inspection Techniques:

  • Visual inspection methods and tools.

  • Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) techniques (UT, RT, MT, PT).

  • In-Line Inspection (ILI) tools and smart pigging.

  • Integrity assessment for detecting defects and anomalies.

  • Documentation and reporting of inspection findings.

Unit 5:

Pipeline Corrosion Management:

  • Types and causes of pipeline corrosion.

  • Internal and external corrosion protection methods.
